MALVERN HILL RETREAT
Project Arbora - Malvern
We’ve been working alongside Shack on the design and development of a new woodland resort at Langdale Wood, Malvern.

The scheme brings forward 40 holiday lodges and a reception building, carefully embedded within a 6.9ha managed woodland setting. The approach has been landscape-led from the outset, shaping a layout of loosely arranged lodges that sit within the trees rather than against them.
Our role spans architectural and interior design, developing a lodge product that moves away from the standard holiday model. The ambition has been to create something more considered, with a contemporary, crafted feel that aligns with a focus on nature, sustainability and guest experience.
Key to the scheme is maintaining the character of the woodland. Minimal ground disturbance, careful positioning, and retained canopy all work together to ensure the development feels part of the landscape rather than imposed on it.
The lodges will be ready to stay in from summer 2026.
This project is about setting a new benchmark for woodland accommodation. Less uniform, more immersive. Design-led and grounded in place.
GIRDLESTONE HOUSE
Rooftop Extension, Oxford
Girdlestone House involves the delivery of a two-storey rooftop extension above an existing three-storey residential building, creating eight additional apartments while retaining the nine existing homes below. Lynrace Studio led the redesign and planning process, developing an evolved scheme that builds on an earlier consented proposal to improve unit mix, circulation, and the architectural integration of the new upper floors within the surrounding context. The project includes significant upgrades to the existing building, including the introduction of a passenger lift, a fire-protected stair core, replacement glazing, and improved cycle and refuse storage, bringing the building fully in line with current Building Regulations. Careful consideration was given to daylight, privacy, massing, and the mature trees surrounding the site, ensuring minimal impact on neighbouring properties. The scheme is currently on site, with completion scheduled for Summer 2026.
